Sun Xueling on national guide for early childhood educators on outdoor learning
The national guide on outdoor learning for early childhood educators is a resource to help enhance children’s learning. The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) does not mandate that preschools implement the recommendations. Instead, the recommendations were weaved into ECDA’s Outdoor Learning Training Programme for preschools, while ideas on outdoor learning were shared in an online repository. With the support of Temasek Foundation, trained educators held peer sharing sessions. Nearly 2,500 educators and centre leaders have participated in the training courses and peer sharing sessions, while 174 preschools have received funds to support the implementation of their outdoor learning improvement plans. Minister of State for Social and Family Development Sun Xueling said this in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Jul 5).
