Tan Kiat How on measures against animal abuse and cruelty
Beyond putting in place laws and regulations, the Government takes a multi-stakeholder approach to prevent cruelty to animals, said Senior Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How. Replying to an MP's questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 22), he stressed that the Government takes a serious view of all cases of animal cruelty, and that the National Parks Board investigates all feedback on animal abuse and would not hesitate to take the appropriate enforcement actions. Mr Tan said there are currently no plans to confer enforcement powers to non-governmental organisations, but the Government will study and learn from international best practices where appropriate.
