05:31 Min

Thailand's Constitutional Court has removed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office, after less than a year into the post. A nine-judge panel ruled that she failed to uphold ethical standards in a leaked phone call with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen. They said Ms Paetongtarn's actions hurt national interests, refuting her claims that she had intended to make a diplomatic breakthrough in a border dispute. Acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has expressed confidence in forming a new government. Ms Paetongtarn is the fifth premier to be removed by the Constitutional Court in 17 years. Saksith Saiyasombut reports from Bangkok.
