UK Prime Minister Starmer steps down after weeks of pressure from within his Labour party

The UK is preparing for another change in leadership, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation - paving the way for the seventh prime minister, in just over a decade. Mr Starmer led the Labour Party to a landslide election victory less than two years ago. But pressure has been building in recent months over policy U-turns, fueling public dissatisfaction. Nominations to replace Mr Starmer will open on 9 July, and a new prime minister is expected to take office in September. Stuart Smith with more from London.
