Lim Biow Chuan on Parliament’s handling of MPs under investigation

07:30 Min

In calling for Transport Minister S Iswaran to be suspended from Parliament amid an ongoing investigation, NCMPs from the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) are judging that he has committed a wrongdoing even before details of the case are out, said MP Lim Biow Chuan. He said Mr Iswaran should surely be given due process and every opportunity to present his case before a court of law, if the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau ever decides to charge him. This is the rule of law, he said, and if PSP is advocating otherwise, that would be “a very dangerous principle” which would have to apply to all MPs in the House. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 19), Mr Lim said he firmly believed that once the case against Mr Iswaran is concluded, the Government “will do whatever is right to ensure that all parties are treated fairly”.
