Jasmin Lau on removal of public officers’ contact details from government directory
The Singapore Government Directory (SGDI) was streamlined in July to reduce the risk of scammers misusing public officers’ names and contact details in impersonation scams. Members of the public who want to confirm that public officers are trying to reach them should contact the relevant government agencies directly through their websites or Quality Service Managers (QSMs), whose contact details have been made “more prominent” on SGDI. For follow-ups, contact details from official earlier correspondence can be used. Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Jasmin Lau said this in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7) in reply to MPs’ questions.
