Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Jackson Lam on transnational drug threats and prevention

04:05 Min

Singapore's enforcement regime against drugs remains firm and respected, but the drug landscape is changing and becoming more digital, more decentralised and more transnational, said MP Jackson Lam in parliament on Friday (Feb 27). He noted that with statistics showing that one in two new abusers is under 30, and children as young as 12 are being drawn in, prevention efforts must move upstream, socially, digitally and regionally, and the government must make sure its strategy stays ahead of the curve rather than simply responding to it.
