Wan Rizal on National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Bill
A sector cannot be sustainable if its workforce is not, said MP Wan Rizal in parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13). So, as a sector developer, the National Council of Social Service must focus not just on providing good services, but also providing good jobs for its workers, recognising that this may increase service delivery costs. Dr Wan Rizal called for clear skills development and progression paths for social service workers, fair and comprehensible wage standards, and improved well-being and workplace protections. He suggested ways the sector could work with the labour movement, including introducing accreditation.
