09:11 Min

The government has done a tremendous job architecting Singapore’s laws to protect and secure the online commons for its people in a very thoughtful and thorough, yet calibrated and pragmatic, manner, said MP Xie Yao Quan. Singaporeans should trust that it will implement the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill in the same way, he said in parliament on Wednesday (Nov 5). Mr Xie pointed out that building up capabilities, especially first-cycle capabilities, takes time. He hopes the government will be given the time and space to build up the Online Safety Commission properly to deliver quick, effective and on-point relief for victims.
