Yeo Wan Ling on Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill

10:45 Min

As the cost of living rises, Singaporeans will be well-resourced to match the demand for greater productivity in a sustainable way, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Nov 7), she raised concerns with older workers who are in the "sunset lap" of their productive years. These concerns are exacerbated, especially with their nest eggs being eroded by the rising cost of living and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, she said. She urged the Government to strengthen and continue support for older workers through grants and other forms of funding. She said the labour movement will continue to play its part to help seniors and other Singaporeans stretch their dollar through its social enterprises. She also suggested supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises with an annual allowance to buy the goods needed for their businesses.
