Yeo Wan Ling on Land Transport and Related Matters Bill

12:24 Min

Enhanced regulations on personal mobility aids (PMAs) are aimed at improving safety for users and the public alike; but a balance must be struck with ensuring that riders who depend on these devices for a living are not pushed into financial hardship, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. In parliament on Tuesday (Feb 3), she raised concerns about a reduction in PMA speed limits lengthening delivery times and affecting riders’ earnings, as well as extra expenses such as medical certification and installation of speedometers. She also urged an “education-first” approach during initial enforcement to give users time to adapt.
