Zaqy Mohamad on incident reports following occupational disease diagnosis
Doctors are required to submit incident reports after an occupational disease has been diagnosed to ensure that cases are not missed out, as workers may have already moved on from the job that caused the disease or could be working for a different employer or may not be working at all at the time of diagnosis. This helps to expedite the work injury claims process and safeguards employees’ interest, as insurers and the Ministry of Manpower are informed in a timely manner. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad said this in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6) in reply to an MP’s question. He said there is no need for doctors to report workplace injuries as the link between the injury, workplace accident and employment relationship is generally more direct.
