Zaqy Mohamad on repeat workplace safety offenders

09:52 Min

Of the 558 companies penalised during a recent two-month workplace safety enforcement operation, slightly more than half were repeat offenders. This was revealed by Senior Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 29) in reply to an MP’s question. Mr Zaqy said the repeat offenders were slapped with stiffer penalties such as higher composition fines. Those with poor workplace safety and health performance are also inspected more regularly. Companies whose workers suffer fatal or major injuries are required to engage external auditors to conduct a thorough review of their processes and implement measures to prevent any recurrence.
