Donald Trump on Thursday (Jul 18) accepted the Republican party's presidential nomination in a marathon speech, capping a convention dominated by the recent attempt on his life.
The 78-year-old addressed a welcoming crowd at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, describing how he narrowly survived the shooting and that he was only there "by the grace of Almighty God".
Although he opened with an unusually conciliatory tone, Trump swiftly pivoted to well-worn attacks on US President Joe Biden's administration.
He also vowed to bring down inflation, put an end to every international crisis and "rescue the United States".
