CNA938 Rewind - UFO or sacred temple? “Rattan Eco Sprawl: Manifesting the Forest” by Zen Teh

In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with Zen Teh, Singaporean environmental artist and educator about her installation artwork, “Rattan Eco Sprawl: Manifesting the Forest” commissioned by the Singapore Art Museum (SAM). Nestled in Spottiswoode Park, Teh will discuss how “Rattan Eco Sprawl” - crafted primarily from rattan – forms structures like mountains and Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, set against the backdrop of Singapore’s rapidly changing urban landscape. Teh and Estella Ng, Manager of Public Art at SAM will also describe collaborating with rattan and wood artisans, and an ecologist to bring about this 13 x 5 metre installation.
