Bus crashes into Yio Chu Kang Tennis Centre

SINGAPORE — For the second time in as many days, a public bus has gotten stuck in an unlikely place — this time in a tennis court.
An SBS Transit bus, which was off duty, crashed into the fence of the tennis court adjacent to Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange on Friday evening (Sept 30). The bus was stuck for more than an hour before it was towed out at about 7.45pm.
When contacted, Ms Tammy Tan, SBS Transit's senior vice president of corporate communications, said: “We take this accident seriously. We are investigating the matter and will take remedial action.
“We are thankful that no one was on the tennis court and no passengers were on board at that time. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
The tennis facility is managed by Sport Singapore (SportSG).
Four of the eight affected courts are closed for repair, while the operations of the rest of the Yio Chu Kang Sports Centre will not be affected, a SportSG spokesperson said.
On Thursday, an SMRT bendy bus got stuck in an open field near Blk 256 Kim Keat Avenue for more than 10 hours. According to SMRT, the bus captain was "returning the vehicle to the bus depot when he took a wrong turn and attempted to make a U-turn on the field."
