Covid-19: 12 new cases in Singapore, of which 9 are imported
As of March 14, 2020, there are 14 Covid-19 patients who are in critical condition under intensive care.
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 12 more cases of Covid-19 on Saturday (March 14), including nine that were imported.
This is the second day in a row that Singapore has seen this number of imported cases.
Of the remaining cases announced on Saturday, one is part of the cluster involving a private dinner event at Safra Jurong on Feb 15, one is linked to a previous case, and one where there is no link established as yet.
This brings the total number of infections here to 212. Of these 105 have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospital, including eight that were announced on Saturday.
Of the 107 patients still hospitalised, most are stable or improving, MOH said. Fourteen are in critical condition under intensive care.
THE LATEST CASES
Case 201
A 52-year-old Singaporean woman who did not travel recently to affected countries and region but is linked to the Safra Jurong cluster, which is the largest cluster with 45 cases.
She reported an onset of symptoms on March 5 and sought treatment at a general practitioner (GP) clinic on the same day.
She went to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital on March 7 and was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 13.
She is warded in an isolation room at the hospital. Before that, she mostly stayed home on Teck Whye Lane.
Case 202
A 44-year-old Singaporean man who had been in Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 3. This is an imported case.
He attended a religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia and the authorities there have reported several confirmed infections linked to the event.
He reported an onset of symptoms on March 3 and sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 4 and 5.
He went to Sengkang General Hospital on March 12 and tested positive for Covid-19 on March 13. He is warded in an isolation room there.
Before he was warded, he had visited Masjid Al-Mawaddah at 151 Compassvale Bow in Sengkang, Masjid Jamae (Chulia) at 218 South Bridge Road, and Masjid Al- Istiqamah along Serangoon North Avenue 2. He lives on Anchorvale Drive in Sengkang.
Case 203
A 36-year-old Singaporean woman who had been in Indonesia from March 6 to 8 and who is likely to be an imported case.
She reported onset of symptoms on March 11, and went to the emergency department of Changi General Hospital on March 12. She tested positive on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at the hospital.
Before hospital admission, she mostly stayed home on Pasir Ris Street.
Case 204
A 32-year-old American man who is a Singapore work pass holder and who had been in Japan from Feb 29 to March 8. This is an imported case.
He reported onset of symptoms on March 11 and sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 12. He went to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on March 12, and tested positive the next day.
He is warded in an isolation room at SGH but before that he mostly stayed home in the Tanjong Pagar Road area.
Case 205
A 30-year-old Filipina who is a Singapore long-term visit pass holder. She had been in the Philippines from Feb 27 to March and is an imported case.
She was confirmed to have the infection on March 14 and is warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
Case 206
A 33-year-old female New Zealander who is a Singapore long-term visit pass holder. She had travelled to the United States from Feb 28 to March 13 and is an imported case.
She was confirmed to have the coronavirus on March 14 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Case 207
A 40-year-old Singaporean woman who had been in the United Kingdom from March 6 to 11.
An imported case, she is now warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Case 208
A 26-year-old Singaporean woman with no recent travel history to affected countries and regions.
She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 14 morning, and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Case 209
A 32-year-old Singaporean woman who had been in the US from March 2 to 7.
An imported case, she was tested positive on March 14 and is warded in an isolation room at SGH.
Case 210
A 56-year-old German man who is a Singapore long-term visit pass holder. He was in Germany from Feb 27 to March 3 and again from March 11 to 12, and in Switzerland in between.
An imported case, he tested positive on March 14 morning and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Case 211
A 35-year-old Filipina who is a Singapore long-term visit pass holder.
She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 14 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
She is linked to to Case 142, a 26-year-old Singaporean man who went to a rock-climbing gym at Asperia Mall in Kallang and who has links to the Safra Jurong cluster.
Case 212
A 64-year-old Indonesian man who is an imported case.
He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 14 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
UPDATES ON PREVIOUS CASES
Case 190
A 53-year-old Singaporean man who has no recent travel history to affected countries and regions.
He is linked to Case 172, a 42-year-old Filipina and a Singapore work pass holder who had been in the Philippines from Feb 27 to March 2.
He reported onset of symptoms on March 10.
As he had been identified as a contact of Case 172, he was referred by MOH to NCID on March 12.
Before he was warded, he mostly stayed at his home at Yishun Avenue 11. He is a taxi driver but had not worked since falling ill.
Case 191
A 24-year-old Malaysian woman and Singapore work pass holder, she is an imported case who had been in Germany from Feb 24 to 28, and Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 3, and again from March 6 to 10.
She reported onset of symptoms on March 9 while in Malaysia and had sought treatment at two GP clinics on March 11 and 12.
She is employed as a cabin crew with Singapore Airlines but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms. She lives along Pasir Ris Grove.
Case 192
A 32-year-old American man who arrived in Singapore on March 10 from the United States and is an imported case.
He reported onset of symptoms on March 11, tested positive on March 13, and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Before he was warded, he mostly stayed in his hotel room at The Pod@Beach Road (289 Beach Road).
Cases 193 and 194
Case 193 is a 26-year-old Malaysian man and Case 194 is a 24-year-old woman from China. They are both Singapore work pass holders and are likely to be imported cases.
They both went to Germany from March 1 to 3, Czech Republic from March 4 to 6, Austria from March 7 to 8, and Hungary from March 9 to 10.
She reported onset of symptoms on March 8. He sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 12 and was referred to NCID.
He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13, and she in the afternoon.
They are each warded in an isolation room in NCID.
- Before they were warded, they had mostly stayed home on Telok Blangah Street 31.
Case 195
A 47-year-old Singaporean man who is an imported case. He had been in the US from Feb 4 to 17 and Canada from Feb 17 to March 9.
- He reported onset of symptoms on March 6 while he was in Canada and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 12. He was referred to NCID on the same day.
He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
He lives along Bukit Batok Avenue 3.
Case 196
A 73-year-old Singaporean woman with no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.
She is linked to the Safra Jurong cluster and is a contact of a 67-year-old Singaporean woman (Case 148) and a 68-year-old Singaporean woman (Case 107) who had both gone to Indonesia on Feb 11 to 14 and who both also have links to the same cluster.
She reported onset of symptoms on March 3 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 9. She was referred to NCID, where she tested positive on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room there.
- Prior to hospital admission, she mostly stayed home on Holland Close.
Case 197
A 30-year-old Singaporean man who is an imported case as he had been in Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 2.
He had attended a religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia and the Malaysian authorities later reported that several Covid-19 cases are linked to the event.
He reported onset of symptoms on March 4 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 5. He went to NCID on March 12 and tested positive on March 13 morning. He is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Before hospital admission, he had gone to work at Vopak Terminals Singapore (51 Banyan Avenue on Jurong Island), and visited Masjid Kassim (450 Changi Road), Masjid Petempatan Melayu Sembawang (25 Jalan Mempurong), Masjid Sultan (3 Muscat Street off Beach Road) and Fong Leong Engineering (10 Buroh Street in Boon Lay). He lives on Canberra Street in Sembawang.
Case 198
A 61-year-old Singaporean woman who has no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.
- She reported an onset of symptoms on March 7 and had sought treatment at two GP clinics on March 8 and 12. She was referred to NCID on March 12.
She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13 and is warded in NCID.
- Before hospital admission, she mostly stayed home on Saraca Road near Yio Chu Kang.
Case 199
A 37-year-old Singaporean man who is an imported case. He had been in Malaysia from Feb 26 to March 2.
He attended the same religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia as Case 197 above.
He reported onset of symptoms on March 3 and was referred by MOH to NCID on March 12. He tested positive on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
Before he was warded, he had gone to work as a food delivery personnel employed by GrabFood and visited Masjid Al-Mawaddah (151 Compassvale Bow in Sengkang). He lives on Hougang Street 51.
Case 200
A 62-year-old Singaporean woman who has no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.
She is the family member of Case 165, a 30 year-old Singaporean man who is a Republic of Singapore Air Force serviceman who had been in France for official duty from Feb 15 to March 7 and is an imported case.
She reported onset of symptoms on March 12. As she has been identified as a contact of Case 165, she was issued a home quarantine order on March 10. She was taken to NCID by an ambulance on March 13 and tested positive on the same day.
She is warded in an isolation room at NCID.
She lives along Jalan Mulia in MacPherson.
LINKS TO PREVIOUS CASES
Further epidemiological investigations and contract tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases. This was made possible with the assistance of the Singapore Police Force.
- Eight of the locally transmitted confirmed cases (Cases 31, 33, 38, 83, 90, 91, 138 and 151), as well as Cases 8 and 9, are linked to The Life Church and Missions Singapore. These cases are linked to another 23 confirmed cases (Cases 48, 49, 51, 53, 54, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68, 70, 71, 73, 74, 78, 80, 81, 84, 88) who are linked to the Grace Assembly of God church cluster.
- Five of the confirmed cases (Cases 42, 47, 52, 56 and 69) are linked to the Seletar Aerospace Heights construction site.

Contact tracing is underway for 11 locally transmitted cases to establish any links to previous cases or travel history to affected countries or regions.
