Covid-19: 13 more cases in S’pore, including 9 imported ones — a new single-day high

There have been 200 reported cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 13 March, 2020.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (March 13) announced 13 more cases of Covid-19 infections, including nine imported ones — a figure which exceeds the previous single-day high (eight) set just two days ago.

Of the remaining cases, one is part of the cluster involving a private dinner event at Safra Jurong, two are linked to previous cases and one is currently unlinked.

This brings the total number of infections in the country to 200. Of these, a total of 97 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.

Of the 103 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, most are stable or improving, MOH said.

Case 188

  • Case 188 is a 53-year-old Singaporean man who had been in Thailand from Feb 23 to March 1. He is likely to be an imported case.

  • He is warded in an isolation room at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 7 and sought treatment at two general practitioners (GP) clinics on March 7 and 9.

  • He went to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on March 12 and tested positive for Covid-19 on the same day.

  • Before that, he had run errands at Northpoint City mall in Yishun and at 743 Yishun Avenue 3. He lives on Yishun Street 51.

Case 189

  • Case 189 is a 36-year-old man from India who is a Singapore work pass holder.

  • He is likely to be an imported case as he had been in India from Feb 21 to March 1.

  • He is warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 11 and sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 12. He was referred to NCID on the same day.

  • He tested positive for the Covid-19 infection on March 12 afternoon.

  • Prior to hospital admission, he had gone to work at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. He lives on St George's Road in Bendemeer.

Case 190

  • Case 190 is a 53-year-old Singaporean man who has no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.

  • He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 13 and is warded at NCID.

  • He is linked to Case 172, a 42-year-old Filipina who works at insurer AXA Singapore.

Case 191

  • Case 191 is a 24-year-old Malaysian woman who is a Singapore work pass holder.

  • She is likely to be an imported case as she had been in Germany from Feb 24 to 28 and Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 3.

  • She was confirmed to have the Covid-19 infection on the morning of March 13.

  • She is warded at NCID.

Case 192

  • Case 192 is a 32-year-old American man who arrived in Singapore on March 10 from the United States.

  • He is likely to be an imported case.

  • He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13 and is warded at NCID.

Cases 193 and 194

  • Case 193 is a 26-year-old Malaysian man and Case 194 is a 24-year-old woman from China. They are both Singapore work pass holders and are likely to be imported cases.

  • They both went to Germany from March 1 to 3, Czech Republic from March 4 to 6, Austria from March 7 to 8, and Hungary from March 9 to 10.

  • He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13, and she in the afternoon. 

  • They are each warded in an isolation room in NCID.

Case 195

  • Case 195 is a 47-year-old Singaporean man.

  • He is likely to be an imported case as he had been in the US from Feb 4 to 17 and Canada from Feb 17 to March 9.

  • He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

Case 196

  • Case 196 is a 73-year-old Singaporean woman with no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.

  • She tested positive on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • She is linked to the Safra Jurong cluster and is a contact of a 67-year-old Singaporean woman (Case 148) and a 68-year-old Singaporean woman (Case 107) who had both gone to Indonesia on Feb 11 to 14 and who both also have links to the same cluster. 

Case 197

  • Case 197 is a 30-year-old Singaporean man. 

  • He is likely to be an imported case as he had been in Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 2.

  • He was confirmed to have the Covid-19 infection on the morning of March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • He had attended a religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia and the Malaysian authorities later reported that several Covid-19 cases are linked to the event.

Case 198

  • Case 198 is a 61-year-old Singaporean woman who has no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions. 

  • She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13 and is warded in NCID

Case 199

  • Case 199 is a 37-year-old Singaporean man.

  • He is likely to be an imported case as he had been in Malaysia from Feb 26 to March 2.

  • He tested positive on March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID

  • He had attended the same religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia as Case 197 above.

Case 200

  • Case 200 is a 62-year-old Singaporean woman who has no recent travel history to the affected countries and regions.

  • She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 13 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • She is the family member of Case 165, a 30 year-old Singaporean man who is a Republic of Singapore Air Force serviceman who had been in France for official duty and is an imported case.

UPDATES TO PREVIOUS CASES

Case 180 

  • Case 180 is a 71-year-old Singaporean man.

  • He is likely to be an imported case as he had been in the US from Feb 27 to March 10.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 10 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 11 and was referred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital on the same day.

  • He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 12 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • Before he was warded, he mostly stayed home on Bishan Street 23.

Cases 181 and 182

  • An 83-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, both Indonesians and family members, are both imported cases. 

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 8 in Indonesia while the woman had symptoms on March 9, the day they arrived in Singapore. They both went to the emergency department of Gleneagles Hospital on March 10.

  • They were confirmed to have Covid-19 on the morning of March 12 and are warded at the hospital.

  • Before they were hospitalised, they stayed at the Bukit Timah Road area.

Case 183

  •  A 29-year-old Singaporean man who had been in Malaysia from Feb 29 to March 4.

  • He had attended the religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 6 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 9. 

  • He went to NCID on March 11 and tested positive for Covid-19 on March 12. He is warded in an isolation room at NCID. 

  • Before that, he had gone to work at Masjid Al-Muttaqin (5140 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6), and visited Masjid Al-Iman (10 Bukit Panjang Ring Road), Masjid Kassim (450 Changi Road), Masjid Hajjah Fatimah (4001 Beach Road) and Pergas (448 Changi Road). He lives on Bukit Panjang Road.

Case 184

  • Case 184 is a 35-year-old Filipino who is a Singapore work pass holder and who had been in the Philippines from Feb 24 to March 1. 

  • He is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • He is linked to Case 172, a 42-year-old Filipina and a Singapore work pass holder who had been in the Philippines from Feb 27 to March 2. 

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 9. As he was identified as a contact of Case 172, he was referred by MOH to NCID on March 11. He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 12.

  • He lives along Lorong 28 Geylang.

Case 185

  • Case 185 is a 34-year-old Singaporean man who had been in Malaysia from Feb 22 to 23. 

  • He is warded in an isolation room at NCID. 

  • He is linked to Case 142, a 26-year-old Singaporean man who went to a rock-climbing gym at Asperia Mall in Kallang and who has links to the Safra Jurong cluster.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 7 and sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 9. 

  • As he had been identified as a close contact of Case 142, he was placed on quarantine on March 9. He was later referred to NCID by MOH on March 10. He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 12.

  • Before he was warded, he mostly stayed home on Circuit Road.

Case 186

  • Case 186 is a 64-year-old Singaporean man who did not travel recently to the affected countries and regions.

  • He is linked to Case 166, a 55-year-old Singaporean woman who has links to the Safra Jurong cluster.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 5 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on the same day and the emergency department at KTPH on March 10.

  • As he is the contact case of Case 166, he was referred by MOH to NCID on March 11. 

  • He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 12 and is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • Prior to hospital admission, he had gone to work at Samwoh Corporation. He lives on Woodlands Street 13.

Case 187

  • Case 187 is a 48-year-old Singaporean man who had been to Malaysia from Feb 28 to March 2. 

  • He had attended a mass religious gathering at a mosque in Malaysia.

  • He reported onset of symptoms on March 4 and had sought treatment at a GP clinic on the same day. He also sought treatment at a GP clinic on March 6, 9, 10 and 11.

  • He went to NCID on March 11 and tested positive on March 12. He is warded in an isolation room at NCID.

  • Before that, he had visited Masjid Hajjah Rahimabi Kebun Limau (76 Kim Keat Road). He lives on Whampoa Drive.

LINKS TO PREVIOUS CASES

Further epidemiological investigations and contract tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases. This was made possible with the assistance of the Singapore Police Force.

  • Eight of the locally transmitted confirmed cases (Cases 31, 33, 38, 83, 90, 91, 138 and 151), as well as Cases 8 and 9, are linked to The Life Church and Missions Singapore. These cases are linked to another 23 confirmed cases (Cases 48, 49, 51, 53, 54, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68, 70, 71, 73, 74, 78, 80, 81, 84, 88) who are linked to the Grace Assembly of God. 

  • Five of the confirmed cases (Cases 42, 47, 52, 56 and 69) are linked to the Seletar Aerospace Heights construction site.

  • 14 of the confirmed cases (Cases 93, 95, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 108 and 110) are linked to Wizlearn Technologies Pte Ltd.

  • 44 of the confirmed cases (Cases 94, 96, 107, 112, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 120, 121, 122, 125, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 133, 134, 137, 139, 140, 142, 144, 145, 146, 148, 149, 150, 155, 156, 157, 158, 159, 160, 161, 164, 166, 174, 179, 185, 186 and 196) are linked to a private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong on 15 February.

  • Three of the confirmed cases (Cases 142, 162 and 163) are linked to boulder+ Gym.

Contact tracing is underway for 10 locally transmitted cases to establish any links to previous cases or travel history to affected countries or regions.
