SINGAPORE — All residents of four public housing blocks at Chin Swee Road and Jalan Kukoh, as well as staff members and cleaners of the Jalan Kukoh Food Centre, will have to be tested for Covid-19.
This is after 15 coronavirus cases were detected at three of the four Housing and Development Board blocks, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 14).
The ministry said that it was investigating likely coronavirus transmission at Blocks 52 and 53 Chin Swee Road, and Blocks 3 and 9 Jalan Kukoh.
Five infected cases were found in two households at Block 52 Chin Swee Road, which is connected to Block 53.
Separately, 10 Covid-19 cases were detected in seven households at Blocks 3 and 9 Jalan Kukoh.
Epidemiological investigations are under way to determine the source of transmission and links between infections, said the ministry.
Leaflets as well as SMS (short message service) phone notifications have been sent to the residents to provide them with more information.
Owners and staff members of commercial units at the four blocks will also have to be tested for Covid-19.
As a precaution, all staff members and cleaners at Jalan Kukoh Food Centre at 1 Jalan Kukoh will also be tested.
Testing is optional only for those who have received a negative Covid-19 test from Aug 11, MOH said.
For residents and workers at the Chin Swee Road blocks, the testing exercise will be carried out at the void deck between Blocks 51 and 53 on Sunday between 9am and 4pm.
For residents and workers at the Jalan Kukoh blocks, the testing exercise will take place at the void deck on the fourth storey of Block 9 Jalan Kukoh from Sunday to Monday between 9am and 4pm. Workers from the Jalan Kukoh Food Centre will also be tested there.
Those required to undergo the tests must take along their identification cards to the testing sites.
They should also monitor their health closely and see a doctor immediately if they feel unwell.
MOH also advised those who are awaiting their test results to minimise social interactions as much as possible.
