SINGAPORE: A new PCF Sparkletots centre was officially opened at Blk 227, Ang Mo Kio Street 23 on Saturday (Jul 23), offering full day infant and child care services for children aged two months to four years old.

It is one of 44 Early Years Centres operated by the PAP Community Foundation (PCF), and the first such centre in Teck Ghee.

The 586 sq ft centre, which started operations in January, can accommodate 17 infants and 106 children at full occupancy.

The official opening was graced by guest-of-honour Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Under the Early Years Centre model, Nursery 2 children who are Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents will be guaranteed a place in a nearby Ministry of Education (MOE) Kindergarten when they turn five years old.

The Sparkletots centre in Teck Ghee is located next to an MOE Kindergarten that is located within Ang Mo Kio Primary School.

PCF aims to open four more Early Years Centres by the end of this year.

"There has been a growing demand for pre-schools that cater to children aged between two months to four years, especially in newer estates or areas with new Build-to-Order flats where there are more families with young children," said Mr Victor Bay, CEO of PAP Community Foundation.

"Over the last 5 years, we have increased our total infant care and child care capacity by more than 10,000 places, especially in newer estates or areas with BTOs with higher demand," he added.
