SIA waives rebooking fees for tickets issued on or before March 15
SINGAPORE — National carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) said it is waiving all rebooking fees for tickets issued on or before Sunday (March 15), for travel up to May 31, with immediate effect.
“Customers can cancel their existing flight itineraries, retain the value of their tickets and rebook their travel at a later date, when they are able to firm up their new travel plans,” SIA said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The new flight itinerary should be completed by March 31, 2021.
SIA said the new policy applies to all bookings for travel up to May 31 this year, and this may be extended depending on the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on global air travel in the coming weeks.
All rebooking fees will be waived, although a fare difference may apply for the new itinerary, the airline added.
For all new SIA and SilkAir tickets issued from now to March 31 this year, SIA will also waive change fees.
SIA’s advisory comes after the Singapore authorities announced new border-control measures in a bid to reduce the risk of Covid-19 being imported into the country.
From Monday, all travellers entering Singapore with recent travel history to Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries, Japan, Switzerland or the United Kingdom in the last fortnight will be issued a 14-day stay-home notice.
The new rules do not apply to Singaporeans and Malaysians using Singapore’s sea and land crossings with Malaysia.
Singaporeans are also advised to defer all non-essential travel abroad with immediate effect, the Ministry of Health said on Sunday.
