Singer Aliff Aziz pinned down and arrested at Orchard Road after drunken argument
A video purportedly showing the arrest has gone viral on social media. Many netizens have identified the man in the video as local singer and actor Aliff Aziz, but the police have declined to confirm his identity.
SINGAPORE — Singapore singer and actor Aliff Aziz, 28, was arrested for causing public nuisance along Orchard Road on Sunday morning (Nov 10).
In a statement, the police did not name Aliff but they said on Monday that officers were on patrol at 6.40am on Sunday when they came across two men arguing at Orchard Road.
"Despite the police officers’ repeated warnings to keep the peace, one of them, a 28-year-old male who reeked of alcohol, refused to comply and continued to create further annoyance to the public. He was subsequently arrested for causing annoyance to the public when drunk under Section 14(2)(b) of the Liquor Control Act," the police said.
The police added that the man resisted and put up a violent struggle when the officers were making the arrest. Police investigations are ongoing.

In the video, Aliff is seen being pinned down on the side of the road by two policemen.
He is also heard telling the officers: “Sir… you talk to my father, sir… I never resist!”
Not a stranger to controversy, Aliff was previously charged with stealing S$400 in cash, cigarettes and a lighter.
