Suspect charged with murdering wife in Yishun

SINGAPORE — A 37-year-old man has been charged in court on Monday (Aug 15) with the murder of his wife in Yishun Ring Road.
Mohamad Jonit Adnan was accused of causing the death of Ms Sri Idayu Ghazali, 29, in a level 3 unit of Block 342B Yishun Ring Road on Saturday. The suspected killing took place around 9.02pm.
TODAY understands the Ms Sri Idayu was Jonit's wife, and her sister was the one who alerted the police to the incident.
Appearing in court dressed in a red polo T-shirt, Jonit will be remanded for a week for investigations. His case will be heard again on Aug 22.
On Sunday, the police said they had received a call around 9pm a day earlier requesting assistance. The call came from a unit in that particular block in Yishun.
Upon arrival, the police found an injured Ms Sri Idayu in the unit.
She was still conscious when she was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 4:26am on Sunday.
If convicted, Jonit faces the death penalty.
