SINGAPORE: An open-top bus parade to celebrate Team Singapore's Paralympians will be held on Saturday (Sep 14), taking them through the heart of the city.

This was announced by Team Singapore on its Facebook page on Monday.

Four "cheer points" have been designated:

  • Chinatown (in front of People's Park Complex) at 11.50am
  • Orchard Road (along Orchard Road and Bideford Road junction) at 12.10pm
  • Serangoon Road (after Tekka Market and towards junction of Buffalo Road) at 12.30pm
  • Victoria Street (mural wall at 8C Jalan Kledek) at 12.40pm

The bus arrival timings are estimated and subject to traffic conditions on that day.

Singapore had finished its Paris Paralympics campaign with three medals.

Swimmer Yip Pin Xiu clinched golds in the 100m backstroke S2 and 50m backstroke S2, winning the titles for the third consecutive Paralympics.

Jeralyn Tan won a historic boccia silver for Singapore in the women’s individual BC1 event, the country's first ever medal in the sport.

She is Singapore's fourth Paralympic medallist, joining Yip, swimmer Theresa Goh and equestrian Laurentia Tan.

A similar bus parade was organised for Singapore's Olympians last month after they concluded their campaign with a bronze medal, courtesy of Max Maeder in the kitefoiling event.
