SINGAPORE: 18-year-old wushu athlete Zeanne Law secured gold at the 16th World Wushu Championships held in Texas on Saturday (Nov 18), cementing herself as a world champion.
Law won gold on Saturday after scoring 9.776 in the women’s Taijiquan event.
She had tied with the Philippines' Agatha Wong, but was awarded gold after a tiebreaker criterion was applied.
Law had earlier placed fifth out of 13 in the women’s Taijijian event on Nov 17, in which compatriot Vera Tan clinched bronze.
Law's victory along with other medal wins at the tournament put Singapore's medal tally at two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
Singapore's other gold medal victory at the tournament came from Jowen Lim, who scored 9.823 in the men's Gunshu event on Nov 19.
Lim also clinched silver in the Daoshu event on Nov 17.
Singapore also clinched another silver and bronze in the men's Taijijian and women's Changquan events respectively, courtesy of Tay Yu Xuan and Kimberly Ong.
The World Wushu Championships - an official world championship event hosted by the International Wushu Federation - runs from Nov 16 to Nov 20.
