Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis mega project forces residents from long-time homes
Hong Kong is looking to cement growth and drive future expansion by speeding up development of the Northern Metropolis mega project. Located to the north and lying close to Shenzhen on mainland China, it will cover about one third of the total area of Hong Kong. But growth could come at the expense of relocation for many who have lived there for decades. The development, which started last year, is estimated to span over 20 years. When completed, the Northern Metropolis aims to accommodate about 2.5 million residents and provide about 650,000 jobs. May Wong reports.
