Budget 2023 debate: Sitoh Yih Pin on addressing Singaporeans' pain points
It must be the responsibility of the incoming 4G leadership to inspire Singaporeans to greater heights, while acknowledging that pain points exist and to provide relief while working towards viable and sustainable long-term solutions. MP Sitoh Yih Pin said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 22). He highlighted several pain points - high global inflation coupled with sluggish economic growth, high COE prices, the wait for HDB flats and public healthcare appointments, as well as the GST increase. Mr Sitoh said the PAP Government does not shy away from tackling these pain points, but it can do better in demonstrating empathy. He said for Singapore to survive and prosper, it will need the relevant skillsets, the right attitude, and moral compass and values - attributes which he sees in the current 4G leadership and in Singaporeans.
