Budget 2023 debate: Yip Hon Weng on Singapore as a great place to live and age in

11:18 Min

Singaporeans must shift away from viewing seniors as a burden and just a group that is supported with schemes and social assistance. Instead, they should value the contributions of seniors and reframe their silver years as a different phase of life, where they get to live a fulfilling life at a more relaxed pace, independent and confident. These include empowering them to leverage technology in their daily life and enhancing their understanding on how to make the best use of Government schemes that are available to have access to a good quality of life. MP Yip Hon Weng made this call in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 23) for a Singapore that values its seniors and enables them to live out their aspirations. He said only then can we truly establish a Singapore that is "made for families" and a great place to live and age in.
