Budget 2025 debate: Saktiandi Supaat on consistency in support for Singaporeans

Budget 2025 is for all Singaporeans and a Budget for the future, said MP Saktiandi Supaat. To those who feel that it is “more of the same” - distributing more vouchers, investing in research and development and upskilling the workforce - it is “not a bad thing”, he said in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 26). It means the government is not going to take short-term and populist stances just for special events happening this year, he said. More importantly, it means the government’s approach is working and achieving its aims, he added. Mr Saktiandi said Budget 2025 demonstrates consistency - with past budgets to continue the good work for growth and with Singapore’s ideals to support workers, families and the vulnerable. It also shows consistency in the government’s philosophy to ensure that the long-term interests of Singaporeans remain the key priority, regardless of how the upcoming General Election will turn out, he said.
