Chee Hong Tat on eligibility criteria for Majulah Package
The recently announced Majulah Package is intended to help young seniors, now in their fifties and early sixties, boost their retirement and healthcare adequacy. It has been designed to give more support to those with lower incomes and less wealth. However, the Government recognises that there may be concerns that are common to all Singaporeans within this group and will consider MPs’ suggestions to include elements for which only age, not housing type or income, form the eligibility criteria. The parameters of the package are being finalised and details will be announced in Budget 2024. Senior Minister of State for Finance Chee Hong Tat said this in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 19).
