Chee Hong Tat on helping households cope with high inflation
The Government disbursed two sets of CDC vouchers worth S$100 each in December last year and May this year. These vouchers have been well utilised, said Senior Minister of State for Finance Chee Hong Tat. As of September, about 97 per cent of Singaporean households have claimed their December 2021 vouchers and 87 per cent have claimed their May 2022 vouchers. These households have utilised S$180 million, which is about 80 per cent of the total vouchers available to them. Mr Chee gave this update in Parliament on Monday (Oct 3) in reply to an MP's question. He said besides the CDC vouchers, the Government has a mix of support measures for households and individuals to cope with inflation and cost of living concerns. More help is given to the lower-income and vulnerable groups. Mr Chee said the Government is "carefully monitoring" the situation and will consider if there is a need to provide more assistance or bring forward some of the support schemes, especially if the situation worsens.
