Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Shahira Abdullah on supporting low-income households to go digital

02:48 Min
Many students from low-income households now have digital devices, thanks to Government support, but they might not be able to afford the resulting upkeep or broadband access. In Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), NMP Shahira Abdullah asked if the Government could tap help schemes by non-profit groups, such as repair services and free Wi-Fi access at void decks, to widen their reach. Dr Shahira also suggested offering the National Digital Literacy Programme to parents who might not be digitally literate enough to help their children with issues like video conferencing and cybersecurity.
