Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 1: Dennis Tan on SAF training at pre-pandemic levels
Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a reminder of the importance of the need for a strong defence force as an effective deterrent against foreign aggression and ambitions, said MP Dennis Tan. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2), he noted the challenges that the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) faced in training programmes, exercises and deployments during the COVID-19 pandemic. He asked the Ministry of Defence to share the SAF's experience in maintaining its training regime and high level of combat readiness. He also asked about its plans to resume training and exercises at pre-pandemic levels.
