20:24 Min

Singapore is investing for the future to mark its place in a digital world, said Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information Janil Puthucheary. He highlighted three areas - building future-ready digital infrastructure, pushing technological boundaries with leading-edge innovation and research, and fostering global partnerships to advance the digital economy and strengthen digital security beyond Singapore’s shores. The plans include putting S$70 million into a programme to accelerate the "next bound" of communications and connectivity research such as in 6G, deploying quantum technologies in real-world applications, and developing sustainable data centres which will help Singapore fulfil its global obligations in the fight against climate change while supporting the growing needs of its digital economy. Dr Puthucheary spoke in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4).
