Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 3: Patrick Tay on updating laws in view of workforce, workplace changes
The COVID-19 pandemic and technological developments have brought about big changes in Singapore’s workforce and workplaces within the past few years. With that in mind, it is time to review the Employment Act or related labour legislation, said MP Patrick Tay, to better address issues including gig work, workplace fairness, treatment of sick leave, work hours, hybrid work and contractual termination of workers with no reason. Mr Tay spoke in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4).
