Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Wan Rizal on polytechnic and ITE pathways
Polytechnics now have greater flexibility to select students from varied pathways based on broader measures of merit beyond academic grades, but more can be done in this area, said MP Wan Rizal in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7). He asked if the Ministry of Education would consider expanding the Polytechnic Foundation Programme for admission of students to polytechnics. He also wanted to know if there are plans to introduce industry attachments for students enrolling in polytechnics from the Institutes of Technical Education to better prepare them for diploma programmes. He also wanted to know if there are options for students to be eligible for polytechnic courses based on their non-academic achievements.
