The COVID-19 pandemic has brought attention to abusive behaviour towards healthcare workers and it may be timely to implement stronger legislation against this, said NMP Tan Yia Swam. In Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 9), she said healthcare practitioners should have the professional option to terminate the care of abusive patients and that clear protocols to report and manage such cases must be established. She also called on the public to play their part to be courteous and kind to healthcare workers.
