Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 5: Ang Wei Neng on lift access for HDB flats
As HDB residents age, many now prioritise having lifts on every floor over the privacy of living in segmented blocks which were designed and built in the 1980s, said MP Ang Wei Neng in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). He called on HDB to find ways to create lift access for these blocks, or give residents the option to sell their flats back to HDB at a reasonable price. If HDB does this, he suggested that the flats not be resold to Singaporeans but instead be assigned to JTC to lease to younger workers who have no mobility issues.
