Debate on President’s speech: Eileen Chong on trust to build Singapore’s next chapter

16:00 Min

The President painted a "compelling picture" of Singapore’s next chapter - one that is guided by trust, firm in resolve yet open to change, confident yet humble, diverse yet united, said NCMP Eileen Chong. And this is the Singapore she wants to help build, she said in parliament on Wednesday (Sep 24). She said it can only materialise if there is trust - cultivated at every level of society, within families, between neighbours and across generations. She also stressed the need to go further towards a society that encompasses not just economic well-being, but also emotional, social and spiritual flourishing.
