Debate on President’s speech: Jasmin Lau on turning anxiety into purposeful action

19:00 Min

Anxiety is an inescapable part of being human; the real question is not whether we feel it, but what we do with it, said Minister of State for Education and Digital Development and Information Jasmin Lau. Anxiety, if transformed into action, can become energy for creativity and growth, she said in parliament on Wednesday (Sep 24). The role of leaders is to "steady the anxious hearts" and to channel the restless energy into constructive and purposeful action, she said. Ms Lau pointed out that every generation of Singaporeans had anxieties, and what has defined Singapore is the imagination to dream big and the courage to act in spite of it. She pledged to help transform the anxieties into action for a kinder and more resilient, compassionate and confident Singapore.
