Would the Government consider encouraging innovative start-ups and social enterprises to set up shop or test-bed business ideas in heartland commercial spaces? Asking the question in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2), MP Liang Eng Hwa said shops in these areas enjoy lower rents, play an essential role in meeting public needs, and add vibrancy and character to the neighbourhood. He said to do this, heartland shop spaces will need to be further refreshed. He asked if the Ministry of National Development will look to enhance the Revitalisation of Shops Scheme.
