Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 5: Lim Biow Chuan on rental housing scheme
In Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2), MP Lim Biow Chuan reiterated his concerns regarding elderly singles having to share their rental flat with another stranger. He noted that elderly singles who struggle to adapt to the habits of another stranger may resort to living in the void deck or make multiple appeals to the HDB to allow them to rent a flat on their own. He also asked the Ministry of National Development for an update on the Joint Singles Scheme Operator-Run Pilot which was rolled out in end-2021 and if the pilot will be rolled out to more sites.
