Many seniors look to right-size their HDB flats primarily because they are at a stage when their children have left home and they no longer need such a large space; however, the opportunity to unlock equity in their flats and enhance retirement adequacy makes it an even more attractive proposition. MP Xie Yao Quan said this in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). He asked for an update on the number of seniors who have chosen to right-size their flats and successfully received the Silver Housing Bonus. He also wanted to know what plans there are to further support seniors looking to right-size their flats.
