In light of the increased risks of foreign influence and global uncertainty, what is the outlook of national security in Singapore? What are the ways in which the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has or will undertake to ensure that national security, social cohesion and racial harmony are preserved, while at the same time allow for well-intentioned Singaporeans to have a safe platform here to channel their efforts and resources towards constructive narratives and initiatives? MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim asked this in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 29). He also highlighted the need to help desistors - ex-convicts who have successfully remained offence-free - not fall back to crime and drugs. He wanted to know what are the efforts that MHA has undertaken together with community partners and Yellow Ribbon Singapore to ensure better outcomes for desistors.
