Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 1: Yeo Wan Ling on managing work and family commitments
While flexible work arrangements and the introduction of shared parental leave have helped to alleviate some stresses related to managing work and family commitments, in a recent survey by the National Trades Union Congress of more than 1,000 married individuals, less than half of parents surveyed found the financial requirements of raising children manageable, said MP Yeo Wan Ling in parliament on Friday (Feb 28). Highlighting the need to provide affordable access to caregiving resources as well as to equip couples in dual-income families to perform well at work to maximise livelihoods, she asked the government if it can do more to support working parents with their caregiving needs.
