All hawker centres should be upgraded to meet official "green building" standards, to create a better environment for hawkers and patrons alike. A dedicated agency could be set up to manage hawker centres, encourage hawker entrepreneurship and improve food and service quality. MP Hany Soh made these suggestions in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 4). She also raised concerns about hawker and wet market stalls in Marsiling facing “stiff competition” from nearby Johor Bahru, especially with the impending RTS Link rail system.
