Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 4: Mariam Jaafar on impact of geopolitics and tariff plans

The current geopolitical uncertainties, increased protectionism and disruptions caused by climate and technological changes would cause companies to reassess their supply base and their footprint, thereby impacting hub economies like Singapore, said MP Mariam Jaafar in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 5). She asked for the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s assessment on the impact on manufacturing and Singapore’s position as a global hub, and the responses that were being planned.
