Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Mariam Jaafar on government AI use cases and enterprise adoption of AI

In parliament on Friday (Mar 7), MP Mariam Jaafar shared her observation that artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) are transforming how government agencies around the world operate, across all core government sectors and functions. Noting that the government is already using AI in use cases such as traffic management, she wanted to know what is the value that has been created. She also wanted to know what steps the government is taking to accelerate the adoption of AI and GenAI and value-creation through AI in government. Turning to enterprise adoption of AI in Singapore and the challenges faced by SMEs in doing so, she asked how the Ministry of Digital Development and Information is supporting local enterprises to accelerate the adoption of AI for larger-scale value creation so that Singapore can continue to harness AI for economic gains and social benefit.
