15:21 Min

Supporting the health and well-being of every Singaporean continues to be the government’s approach to achieve a healthier nation and a more sustainable healthcare system, said Second Minister for Health Masagos Zulkifli. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Mar 7), he outlined the key initiatives and efforts to help every Singaporean to grow, develop and age well, as well as enjoy a life of health and well-being. One of the initiative aims to wean children off screens by providing tips on best practices to strengthen digital wellness efforts on various platforms, as well as working with preschools, schools, healthcare institutions and the community to reinforce healthy habits. Another initiative is the personalised Health Plans, introduced in January for Primary 1 to 3 students. As at end-February, 22,000 students have been given their Health Plan. The government is on track to roll out Health Plans to all Primary 1 to 3 students by end-2025. Health Plans will be expanded to Primary 4 and 5 students; it will be piloted this year before full implementation in 2026. To support seniors in ageing well in their communities, S$3.5 billion has been set aside over the next decade for this. To ensure quality in long-term care service, the government will introduce the Integrated Community Care Provider. It is a dedicated point of contact for seniors. By end-2026, all seniors requiring long-term care services can progressively look forward to receiving the standardised care assessment and holistic long-term care plan coordinated across services.
