National Servicemen (NSmen) develop hard and soft skills that are transferable to their civilian lives and it is crucial that employers recognise these skills, said MP Melvin Yong. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Feb 27), he stressed the need to ensure that employers can make a more holistic assessment of their employability - one that accounts for the skills and experience gained during National Service. He wanted to know how the Ministry of Defence intends to ensure that the skills acquired by servicemen are duly recognised.
